With awards season well underway, we've already gotten a little taste of some of the 2012 Grammy performers, but as a courtesy to all music enthusiasts, the ceremony's "higher-ups" have decided to throw us a bone and give out a few more names of the performers who will grace the stage for music's biggest night. Who's the latest to be added to the already stellar line-up? None other than Rihanna and Coldplay - who will be performing together - and the Beatles legend himself, Paul McCartney.
Unsurprisingly, all three performers are up for awards that night. Rihanna's nominated in four different categories, including Album Of The Year, Best Pop Vocal Album for "Loud," and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration (where she received two nods). Meanwhile, Coldplay is up for three awards: Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song. McCartney is nominated for Best Historical Album and will also be honored as the 2012 MusiCares Person of the Year. (For a complete list of the 54th Grammy Awards nominees, click here.)
The nominations pretty much speak for themselves, but just in case you were wondering, it's nothing but pure talent all across the board. Rihanna's songs are always chart-topping hits, and everybody loves themselves a little bit of Coldplay. Their duo performance should be a great way to help keep the energy level at its highest. And as for Paul McCartney, well, it's PAUL MCCARTNEY! Do I really have to say anything else? Bottom line: it's going to be a great night, watching our favorite artists do what they do best.
Music's Biggest Night takes place live on Sunday, Feb. 12 at Staples Center in Los Angeles on CBS starting at 8 p.m. (EST). It's a night you definitely won't want to miss.
