As a kid, I never wanted to get up in the mornings to go to school. What can I say? I liked to sleep in - and still do, by the way. But thankfully Brad Pitt has come up with the perfect motivational tactic to get today's generation of youngsters out of bed and into the classroom (take notes, parents). The secret is: give them soda for breakfast. It's a genius plan, right? Sugary treats are the perfect incentive to help get kids out of bed and once they consume all that caffeine they'll have more than enough energy to get to school on time. Where was this information when I was growing up? I'm totally going to start doing this now.
Pitt revealed his secret to James Lipton during the taping of upcoming episode of Inside the Actor's Studio (airing Feb. 10), and when the subject of his children was broached he opened up: "Listen, I admit there’s times like, 'We gotta get up. Get up! Here’s your shoes. Here’s your shoes. Drink this Coke. Drink this Coca-Cola. Drink it all. Right now! Drink it! Drink it! Drink it!' Just so we could get ‘em up and going." And with six children to attend to and take care of, who can really blame him for using bribery to his advantage?
But I'm sure the blame game is exactly what will happen. Parents all over the world will read this and criticize Pitt for being an awful parent who doesn't provide his younglings with the proper nutrition they need. And while it certainly won't earn him the title Parent of the Year, it's important to realize that this is probably not done every morning, just in emergency cases. And even if it's not, I doubt these kids are deprived in any way, shape, or form, so let's just all try to take this with a grain of salt. The guy's walking around with a cane -- we should give him a little bit of a break. Although, hopefully he's making regular appointments for them at the dentist because those cavity bills could really add up.
