In the latest issue of Elle UK, Ashley Olsen says she's retiring from acting at the ripe old age of 25. "I don't have to be a pretty face," says Ashley. "I've done that, but now it's important and liberating to be on the other side of the lens. I don't like to be the center of attention anymore."
Ashley earned millions as a child star (with a little help from her twin Mary-Kate), so she doesn't exactly need to work. However, she won't be dropping out of the workforce entirely. Ashley plans to focus on her fashion lines The Row, Elizabeth and James, and Olsenboye, which she created with Mary-Kate. "We are perfectionists," she says. "We've always wanted to be closely involved with everything, totally hands on—that's why it works. If we step away, it stops working. I know it sounds controlling, but that's how it has to be."
Those concerned about Hollywood's Olsen-shortage can rest easy, because Mary-Kate still plans to take on occasional acting projects. Plus, with her breakout performance in Martha Marcy May Marlene, the twins' little sister Elizabeth Olsen has proven that she's ready to snatch up any roles Ashley doesn't want.
