If you were a fan of the sci-fi drama The X Files back in the day, you'll be intrigued to learn an interesting tidbit about one of its most beloved stars. Best known for her longtime role on the series as Agent Scully, Gillian Anderson revealed in the April issue of Out magazine that she's had numerous romantic relationships with women.
The actress was completely comfortable opening up about the experience, admitting, "I was in a relationship with a girl for a long time when I was in high school." But her trial with same-sex romances extended further than just a one time thing. She confessed to having additional flings with other women as well, telling the magazine,"You know, I'm old enough that I can talk about that."
The 43-year-old star went on to contemplate what life would've been like had she completely come out to the public. She wondered, "If I had thought I was 100 percent gay, would it have been a different experience for me?...Would it have been a bigger deal if shame had been attached to it and all those things that become huge life-altering issues for youngsters in that situation?" But in the end, she concluded, "It's possible that my attitude around it came, on some level, from knowing that I still liked boys."
As of now, Anderson is currently partnered with (but not married to) her longtime boyfriend Mark Griffiths, whom she shares two sons with: Oscar and Felix. The star also has a 17-year-old daughter, Piper, from her first marriage to Clyde Klotz (her second marriage was to Julian Ozanne, whom she divorced in 2006). It goes to show you're never too old to have a few skeletons in your closet.
