Brand is accused of throwing a photog's iPhone out of a window on March 12. And though he reportedly offered to pay for the damage, a misdemeanor warrant for simple criminal damage to property was taken out against him on March 14.
Brand's reasoning for taking the phone in the first place? He didn't approve of the way the photog was handling the iPhone -- and thought the photog's actions insulted former Apple CEO Steve Jobs, who passed away on Oct. 5.
"Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iphone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory," Brand tweeted on March 14.
Despite the fact that he could be taken to jail at any moment, Brand reportedly hasn't fled New Orleans. He's currently down there working on a new film.
