ian somerhalderIan Somerhalder has already proven he can play a sexy bad boy with an affinity for human blood in The Vampire Diaries, but the actor is hoping to expand his acting range a bit further by getting in touch with his kinky side. The 33-year-old star is rumored to be in talks to play billionaire Christian Grey in the film adaptation of E.L. James' racy novel Fifty Shades of Grey. And, according to Somerhalder, he couldn't be more thrilled to be up for the controversial project.

"I absolutely would be up for that. It could be very, very amazing," Somerhalder said during an interview with Ryan Seacrest on KIIS-FM on April 23. "I have the book and I just started reading it. That would be a pretty incredible thing, and hopefully that could pan out." He went on to say, "Beyond the shadow of a doubt, I think that would be a phenomenal opportunity!" (Did you hear that? It's the sound of a thousand swoons.)

The wildly popular trilogy Fifty Shades of Grey details a dominant-submissive relationship between college student Anastasia Steele and billionaire Christian Grey. It's sold more than two million copies in April alone and has been dubbed "Mommy Porn" by the New York Times, given its explicitly erotic scenes that feature elements of BDSM.

So what say you, ladies? Would you like to see Somerhalder get down and dirty in the Red Room of Pain (along with in elevators, childhood bedrooms, boat houses, and inside fancy cars)? More like fifty shades of hotness, amiright ladies?!

Do you think Ian Somerhalder would make a good Christian Grey? Take our poll below and tell us!
