The Jimi Hendrix biopic All is by My Side has been delayed for years, but earlier this week reports that pre-production on the film had started in Ireland raised hopes that it would actually be made. However, the estate of Jimi Hendrix has released a statement suggesting that it will block production of the film about the legendary guitarist, who will reportedly be played by Outkast's Andre 3000.
The statement reads, "Experience Hendrix, LLC, the family-owned company entrusted with safeguarding the legacy of Jimi Hendrix and administrator of the Jimi Hendrix music and publishing catalog, has made it known many times in the past that no such film, were it to include original music or copyrights created by Jimi Hendrix, can be undertaken without its full participation."
The estate has refused to license Hendrix's music to sever planned biopics in the past. It hasn't ruled out the possibility of a Hendrix biopic, but stressed that the estate would have to be involved from the start.
