Russell Brand may be a lot of things, but one thing he'll never be accused of is being subtle. The British comedian kicked off the 2012 MTV Movie Awards by poking fun at the likes of Justin Bieber, Charlie Sheen, and yes, even his ex-wife Katy Perry.
Brand made no attempt to tip-toe around his failed marriage to the singing superstar and joked about being on the lookout for bride number two. "The last MTV awards show I hosted I ended up marrying someone who was there," he remarked. "So I will be keeping my eyes peeled tonight for my next wife."
Brand also thanked Kim Kardashian for taking the pressure off of him in terms of having a more short-lived marriage than his — referring, of course, to Kardashian's 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries. He even made a jab about Kanye West's speech-gate faux pas with Taylor Swift in 2009.
And while it would certainly be hard to host any type of award show and not make mention of your highly publicized failed marriage, it still is a fine line to tread, and Brand isn't exactly known for having tact.
Check out Brand's monologue from last night and see for yourself. Was he completely out of line to talk about his marriage?
