Movie stars Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon will join a hunger strike, which began on Independence Day outside the White House.

The Dead Man Walking co-stars have signed up to the 'rolling fast' which sees protestors giving up food for a day in protest of the war in Iraq, before other participants pick up the cause the following day.

Organized by CodePink, a women's anti-war group, the hunger strike will end on Sept. 21--International Peace Day. Organizers hope to bring to attention the loss of life on both sides of the conflict.

Penn and Sarandon will be joined by Willie Nelson and Danny Glover.

Penn visited Iraq in 2002 and again in 2003 where he toured a children's hospital and a water treatment plant.
