Michael Douglas is now denying that his oral cancer was the result of giving oral sex

On Sunday, Michael Douglas, who was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2010, seemingly revealed in an interview with the Guardian that his cancer was from HPV (human paillomavirus) he contracted after performing cunnilingus.

Now, Douglas is trying to calm down the hype surrounding his sexual prowess and the four-time Golden Globe-winning actor retracted his earlier statement. In a statement issued to People, Douglas's rep clarified, "Michael Douglas did not say cunnilingus was the cause of his cancer. It was discussed that oral sex is a suspected cause of certain oral cancers as doctors in the article point out, but he did not say it was the specific cause of his personal cancer."

The Behind the Candelabra star then tried to clear the air when he announced at an American Cancer Society event on Monday night, "We would all love to know where our cancer comes from. I simply told a reporter ... a virus that can cause oral cancers, and is one of the few areas of cancers that can be controlled, and there are vaccinations that kids can get. So that was my attempt."

Whether Douglas's oral cancer came from cunnilingus is a mystery, but at least we know Douglas cares about young kids being succeptible to HPV... and that he sure does have a sense of humor.
