Kim Deal may have left The Pixies, but it seems the band just can't go on without a bassist named Kim. Former Muffs founder Kim Shattuck has joined the band in time for their new world tour, which will start in Paris on Sept. 29.

The Paris date will mark the first time Shattuck will play with The Pixies. She previously played bass with punk girl group The Pandoras throughout the mid eighties and later founded the indie rock band The Muffs.

Since adding Shattuck to the group, The Pixies have been spending most of their time in their Los Angeles rehearsal space. They've announced that this tour will include not only new music but also more obscure Pixies songs that never made it to the stage.

"Along with everyone's favorites, we'll be playing songs that we haven't played in ages or never played live before," said frontman Black Francis. "Songs like 'Brick is Red,' 'Havalina,' 'Tony's Theme.' and 'Sad Punk.'  We've probably rehearsed some 80 songs, so we'll be able to change up the set at the last minute if we feel like it.  We're all really looking forward to this tour."

The band gave us a taste of what's to come when they released "Bagboy" on Friday, their first new song since 2004, and it's definitely worth a listen if you haven't heard it yet (video below).
