The Charlie's Angels star has been battling anal cancer for two years and was recently hospitalized for internal bleeding not directly related to her ongoing illness.
She has been seeking alternative treatment for the deadly disease in Germany, and actor O'Neal reveals she will undergo one more operation in a last-ditch attempt to find a cure, reports People magazine.
He says, "(It's) a last gasp. There was always a courage there. I fell in love with her all over again because of how she handled this."
But O'Neal is confident that Fawcett will not give up hope anytime soon -- and insists media reports claiming she is on her deathbed are inaccurate.
He adds, "(She) hasn't had the last rites yet. We're not there."
Fawcett's two-year fight has been captured on video by best pal Alana Stewart and the footage will make up a two-hour TV special, called Farrah's Story, which will air next week.
