New York's acclaimed Public Theater arts group performed The Piven Monologues on Monday (14Sep09), a spoof look at the events of last December when Piven fell ill from eating too much sushi and pulled out of Broadway play Speed-The-Plow.

But the Entourage star failed to see the funny side - his legal team fired off a letter to theatre bosses ordering them not to make damaging remarks about the actor.

His attorney Marty Singer tells New York Post gossip column PageSix, "We didn't say you cannot do the play, we said you can't make defamatory statements about our client."
