The outspoken Hell's Kitchen star's business empire has been damaged during the economic downturn, and Ramsay was on the brink of bankruptcy last year (09) until he pumped $8 million (£5 million) of his own money into his companies.

But the cash injection hasn't staved off suppliers who allege Ramsay has failed to pay them. Earlier this week (begs03May10), bosses at U.S. wine merchant Wineberry America LLC took legal action against the chef, claiming he had failed to settle a $40,900 (£27,267) bill for a shipment of booze that was delivered to his New York eaterie, The London NYC.

Now he has been targeted in another suit - this time, bosses at wine distributors V.O.S. Selections insist Ramsay owes them $38,000 (£25,300) from a shipment to London last year (09).

Owner Victor Owen Schwartz tells New York Post gossip column PageSix, "He owes us nearly $38,000. We've yet to see a dime."

Ramsay was recently hit with demands to settle a $250,000 (£166,000) tax bill, as well as a lawsuit from a dairy company over allegations his New York City restaurant failed to pay for a food delivery.
