Jessica Alba Makes Up Her Own Lines: Celeb Speak

jessica albaOn the morning she was to be interviewed for the article that would accompany her photograph on the December cover of Elle Magazine, Jessica Alba woke up, fed her daughter, and then walked down the hall to bathroom and on the way, passed all of her movie posters and realized that she is such a good actress that when her movies are shown in Puerto Rico, the iguanas stop pestering the tourists and watch the film. She had not realized that before! And once she got ready and went downstairs to talk to the writer who was writing her profile for the magazine, she sat down and reminded us how great of an actress she really is. For example, she's quoted as saying the following:

On balancing motherhood with her job: "The time I'm not spending with my kid has to be worth it, so when I sat down with my agents after I was ready to go back to work, I told them: 'It's all about the directors.'"

On the roles she likes: "I know I haven't been swimming in the deep end with some of the movies I've done. I wasn't trying to. I knew what they were."

On her personality: "I'm shy. I don't like being the center of attention. But when I do a comedy, I lose all inhibition and introspection. I no longer care."

On criticism: "I'd been so afraid of criticism since I was young. Every time I'd get a critique or some redirection, I'd always just take it very personally, but now I have no problem with it. It's just a chance to try things a different way. To play more with a character. It also gives me a chance to have some input, to use my voice."

On the stupidity of screenwriters: "Good actors, never use the script unless it's amazing writing. All the good actors I've worked with, they all say whatever they want to say."

As we can see, there's more fun stuff in this interview than an exhibit about the human nervous system at the Liberty Science Center. It's better if I not pick these quotes apart because they'll mean more to you as a whole unit, and only convey the kind of actress she is if they remain intact. I will say, however, that the credited screenwriters of Good Luck Chuck are all about to get second chances.
