Shelley Malil, who alerted Steve Carell's character to the "gang bang" that was taking place between Romany Malco and Smart Tech customer Kevin Hart in The 40-Year-Old Virgin, was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of attempted murder September of stabbing his ex-girlfriend, Kendra Beebe, 23 times. Malil testified that he went over to Beebe's house to apologize for taking some of her things from her home without permission, and lost his temper when he arrived to find her with another man. After learning of Malil's sentencing, Beebe said "I stand before the defendant alive. despite plunging a knife in me 23 times and trying to kill me, I am alive. Despite the wicked scars he left on my body, I am alive." Malil will be eligible for parole in ten years. He stated he "failed miserably, not only as a human being, but as a father, son, uncle, brother, [and] friend." He concluded with "What I did to Kendra -- I don't have words to express my remorse."
