In the worst news for everyone everywhere, Tracy Morgan will miss at least two episodes of 30 Rock set to air in March because he's currently recovering from surgery. According to Entertainment Weekly, the actor -- who plays the fictional version of himself, Tracy Jordan, on the NBC comedy -- underwent a kidney transplant on or around December 10. The operation was successful (Morgan was seen at a Knicks game on Friday December 17th, and rumors say he was running down the streets of Manhattan) but the writers want to give him plenty of time to recover.
Executive Producer Tina Fey said they'll address his absence in the show by saying he has some sort of a meltdown because of a good thing that's happened to him, which sounds pretty much exactly like what would happen to Tracy Jordan, who lives every week like it's shark week.
A representative from Morgan released a statement to EW: “Tracy is doing well and taking some much needed time to recover after the surgery. He is looking forward to going back to work after the holidays.”
So good news, Jackie D. Everything is going to be fine. Add "recovering from surgery" to the list of things Tracy Jordan is good at.
