After going off about how Hannah Montana and Miley's subsequent mega-fame has ruined his family, Billy Ray Cyrus is changing his tune...a bit. He still believes those things he said, but admits that his previous statements were "explosive and unintentionally so." You think? I'd say "explosive" is an understatement. I'd also say that you may have forgotten the part where you blamed fame wholly and exonerated yourself from all blame for any of your family's issues. Yes, fame is cruel, but accept SOME responsibility, Mr. Achy Breaky Heart.
Now, he's saying that he's looking to take a healthier approach in the future. "My family is the most important thing I have, and we are working together to make sure our future is stronger and healthier," he told People. He also emphasized that his family appreciates privacy on their road to recovery. It seems that Cyrus may actually be making a turn for the better for him and his loved ones. Of course, this would all be a little more believable if he hadn't enlisted a celebrity magazine to broadcast this fact to the masses for him.
In all seriousness, I hope Cyrus and his family can figure out their issues (though I'm still not clear on why they're a big deal when you've got folks like Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan parading around Tinsel Town), let's just hope he's being earnest this time and not just parading these ideas around for good publicity. Fame really is a strange game, ain't it?
