Jeff Conaway, the actor known for playing Kenickie in Grease and for appearing on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew in 2008 with addictions to alcohol and painkillers, died yesterday. On May 11th, he was found unconscious and was taken to a Los Angeles hospital. Initial reports stated he overdosed on painkillers, but Dr. Drew told TMZ that Conaway was taken to the hospital because he had pneumonia and sepsis, which were caused because the drugs he'd done for so many years had worn down his immune system. Conaway never regained consciousness at the hospital and he had been kept on a life support machine since the day he arrived. Radar Online reports that "doctors advised the family that Jeff had no brain function since he was brought into the hospital," and they agreed that it was time for them to remove his feeding tube and take him off the ventilator. His autopsy was set to be completed today.
