It only took two years for Mel Gibson and longtime wife, Robyn Gibson, to reach a deal regarding their divorce. It includes a settlement of the property they shared, although the details of the settlement have not yet been released. The divorce is said to be finalized in August by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge. Glad to see good old Mel is finally beginning to understand What Women Want.
It hasn't been an easy road for these two former love birds. The couple separated just days after Gibson's arrest in 2006 for drunk driving and proceeded to go on an anti-Semitic rant. What's not to love right? We should have suspected this was merely a foreshadowing of what was to come in 2009 when Robyn -- after 28 years of marriage-- filed for divorce, irreconcilable differences. Well yeah they had differences...he's crazy, she's not.
The Braveheart Oscar winner had seven children with Robyn along with a 20 month-old daughter from his former relationship with Oksana Grigorieva. Gibson was sentenced to probation as well as domestic violence and mental health counseling after pleading guilty to a battery charge against Grigorieva in 2010. Let's just hope part of the divorce settlement includes giving Robyn full custody of all the kids. The only thing worse would be if they had Charlie Sheen babysit.
