Carrie Bradshaw may have briefly worked for Vogue magazine, but Sarah Jessica Parker is on the cover! SJP graces the front of the high-end fashion magazine's August issue and discusses being a hands-on parents and much more! Not only is Parker ranked as one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood, she is also a producer, a spokeswoman, wife and mother of three children. How does she find time for it all?
Taking care of one child can be a handful, nevermind taking care of three, but Parker states that, "We don't have any live-in help. We're pretty hands-on parents," referring to her and her long-time husband, Matthew Broderick. SJP goes on saying, "That's something that's important to both of us, and we don't shirk it, because what's the point in having a family if you're not going to really participate in it, you know?"
They say art imitates life and the Sex and the City star is experiencing that firsthand with her upcoming film I Don’t Know How She Does It, where the actress plays a successful businesswoman and mother who's trying to balance a busy career and a family life. Sounds like something Parker would absolutely be able to relate to. While the actress absolutely loved shooting Sex and the City, she got to a point where her maternal instinct far out-weighed her acting career. Parker confesses, "I ultimately chose to stop doing the television series because I felt like it required, and deserved, a lot of time when I really wanted to be a parent." And her wish was granted. The couple now have an 8 year old son, James Wilkie, and 2-year-old twin daughters Loretta and Tabitha via a surrogate at the age of 44.
Parker believes that there are benefits to being an older mom claiming, "I've had a lot of opportunities to do the things that I wanted to do, like sleep. I have slept till 11:00 for a lot of years." So then what's the biggest thing that Parker worries about with raising three youngsters? "Honestly, the only thing that I'm concerned about is the energy: I hope I can maintain the energy," Parker laments. I'm absolutely confident that you'll be up to the job SJP. Let's face it -- anyone who can walk around New York City in heels like yours, can pretty much handle anything that comes their way. You're 46 and fabulous!
