Alison Sweeney graces the cover of Self magazine's August issue and she's never looked better. In the interview, The Biggest Loser host opens up about her body image, both past and present, and claims that now is the best she's "ever felt physically and emotionally." The actress joined the weight loss series 5 years ago and admits that watching the contestants undergo their own transformations was a driving force for making her want to begin her own weight watch regime. Her first day on set, she got a crash course in healthy eating from Jillian herself and it became life changing. Sweeney states, "I realized how uneducated I was. I asked her for advice, and she rocked my world. I wasn't eating the right kinds of calories. I didn't know about healthy carbs such as brown rice and lentils. Now I eat small meals throughout the day: oatmeal with cinnamon to start, fruit and yogurt as a snack...I avoid carbs at dinner and usually have a salad -- I love lettuce. I'm a rabbit!"
The Days of Our Lives star has constantly struggled with her weight, even at a very young age. Sweeney confesses, "I've been on Days since I was 16, and being surrounded by such thin, gorgeous actresses made me so insecure and self-conscious." She's got a point there -- that would be almost as depressing as hanging out with Victoria's Secret models all day. But at 5'4" the heaviest the 34 year old actress has ever gotten was when she was wearing a size 12. In 1999, however, she decided to make a change and went from extreme dieting to simply eating healthier which ended up being very effective and she dropped close to 30 pounds. "As soon as I made it about being healthy and shifted my focus away from the scale, the weight started to come off," says Sweeney, who still doesn't use a scale to this day and is happily at a size 2 to 4. Well whatever she's doing seems to be working -- she looks fantastic and I don't need a scale to tell me that.
