Blood may be thicker than water, but not cash. Leighton Meester has sued her mother, Constance Meester, for spending Leighton's money on herself rather than on the actress' brother Lex, who has medical issues. Reports state that the Gossip Girl star used to send $7,500 a month to her family to help take care of her brother, but Constance has used the money for cosmetic procedures, among other personal expenses. Wow, guess we know who won't be winning any mother of the year awards anytime soon.
A source claims that, "This whole thing's been really tough on Leighton...her only concern has always been taking care of her brother. Leighton's really close with her brother and her dad – her parents are divorced. Leighton's a sweet girl – she cares about work, friends and family." The 25 year old actress claims that her mother threatened to sue her for $3 million if she didn't raise the monthly allowance to $10,000. This isn't the first time Constance has had legal troubles, either. In the 1980s, she was convicted of helping a drug ring smuggle marijuana from Jamaica to the U.S and earlier this year a woman won a restraining order against Constance concerning harassment. What a wonderful role model she's turned out to be -- I think I have a new-found respect for Leighton. This is one mother who has crossed the line.
