The claws are starting to come out. Last week the web was set ablaze with surprise and shock at the disappointing photo of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman in the much anticipated installment of the batman series, The Dark Knight Rises. Catwoman's costume seemed to solely consist of a tight, black suit with techie, non-sexy glasses while riding what appeared to be Batman's motorcycle (well she is a cat burglar). But Hathaway assures avid fans that there's more to the get-up than meets the eye (I should hope so).
The One Day star was actually bold enough to comment on the negative reactions the photo has gotten since its release and stated, "I was not going to admit it: I asked someone to send me a few reactions [to the photo]...and I happen to know that MTV's reaction was 'meh'." Oops...busted. MTV wasn't the only one thinking the photo was "unflattering" and "underwhelming" since hundreds of sites were saying the exact same thing (there's truth in numbers my dear). Never the less, Hathaway said that no matter the first impressions, there is a lot more happening with that suit than what that photo suggests. The lovely actress promises us satisfaction in the near future, claiming, "What I am happy to say is, if you didn't like the photo, you only see about a 10th of what that suit can do," while adding "And if you did like the photo, you have excellent taste." Well that would include a very small percentage of the population I'm afraid. Let's hope Ms. Hathaway is right and that we're purring with satisfaction once the movie hits theaters on July 20, 2012.
