Straight Up Now Tell Me -- is this for real? Looks like Paula Abdul is way more diva-ish than I've been giving her credit for. The singer has such a crazy list of demands that it has her staff members seriously considering joining the unemployment line (and in this economy that's saying something). Hollywood stars have been known to possess their own little weird quirks off-screen, but this X Factor judge seems to be (as always) taking it a little too far.
So what are these daily duties that she makes her assistants carry out? A source claims that "Each assistant must carry and use a tape recorder at all times "because she doesn't trust her own conversations." Well we can't really fault her for that. Perhaps she's been watching re-runs of her judging days on American Idol and wondering why she was ever allowed to be on live television in the first place. The source goes on to say that "She also makes them check the TiVo for any mention of her and put it on a DVD," adding that the singer also needs constant reminders that she is a "warrior, survivor and gift." The monitoring of her publicity is totally understandable since that's important for her PR reps to be aware of, but the almost obsessive need for compliments leaves me once again rolling my eyes at the complete lunacy of celebrity power. And as if that wasn't enough, she's instructed staffers to go through her email and respond to her family and friends while pretending to be Abdul herself. I suppose after they read this article it will be her estranged family and ex-friends.
So you just have to ask yourself -- how desperate are you for a job?
