There have been stars in the past who've come to the conclusion that acting is not for them. The fame, the money, the constant adoration -- who needs it, right? Apparently not Taylor Momsen, who has decided to swap scripts for sheet music from now on. Momsen has had her fill of the whole acting gig and told Elle magazine that she's "quit acting" and wants to focus solely on her music career.
In November, Momsen began an "indefinite hiatus" from the hit CW show, Gossip Girl, and must have caught the musician bug during her time off since it was confirmed in May that she would not be reprising her role as Jenny Humphrey on the show. And now she's ending her acting career altogether by retiring at the ripe old age of 18. That even puts Amanda Bynes' retirement to shame, but of course we all know that didn't last very long. Perhaps Momsen will have a change of heart as well? She explained her decision to the magazine saying, "I quit Gossip Girl and now tour and am in a band...that's pretty much all I want to do. Hopefully, I'll be able to only do that for the rest of my life." Until she decides to prematurely retired from that industry as well. The optimist in me wants to say she'll stick it out until she's 25 (that is a quarter of a century old after all), but I feel like 21 is the more accurate number. She'll be too busy getting drunk and giving foul-mouthed interviews (yet again) -- a very musician-type thing to do might I add. Maybe then it would be time for her to start her very own clothing line. Either way, happy retirement and good luck with your new music career Taylor!
