Actress, singer, and now -- life saver? Lara Lundstrom Clarke believes her life was saved by a chance encounter with Gwyneth Paltrow on the morning of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. Apparently Clarke, who worked at the Twin Towers, was rushing to get to work on time when she jaywalked in order to get to the subway station, but was almost hit by Paltrow's car in the process. The near-collision caused Clarke to miss her train, and by the time she got to work, the first plane had hit the building. Paltrow's publicist confirmed that the story was accurate and that the actress was "deeply moved" by the story.
Is there anything our dear Gwyneth can't do? I'm sorry, I can't hold it in any longer -- this is absolutely RIDICULOUS! The actress should be getting no credit for saving this woman's life. She saved a woman's life by almost hitting her with her car? The lady had probably already missed the subway, and there's no telling how close she was to making the train. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the woman is alright either way, but Paltrow was probably too busy talking on the phone ordering a new Antonio Lupi Baia bath tub for her bedroom to even notice she almost ran someone over. And even if there is a small chance that the actress had anything to do with significantly delaying Clarke's arrival to work, let's not go overboard and make her out to be a heroine when all she did was prove she has good breaks on her car.
