He may be one of our favorite rappers, but Lil Wayne is no Tony Hawk. Reports say that the rapper was rushed to the emergency room in St. Louis last night after falling off his skateboard and getting a nasty cut on his head -- talk about Lights Out. Apparently Wayne was hanging out at a skateboarding park near the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, where he had just finished giving a concert.
Weezy fans will be happy to know that their favorite performer is doing fine and will live to rap another day. After being patched up at the hospital, the hip-hop artist tweeted, "The Lou was good but I busted my fuggin head at the sk8park! 9stitches! Gnarly gash over my left eye! Luv the people." Seriously, what did we do before our favorite celebs could directly tell us that they were alive and well via social media outlets? I don't know what I'd do if Hollywood's finest weren't telling us of all their injuries and medical updates. I'm fine if only family are allowed to actually go in and see them, but damn it, I get a Twitpic to ease my worries.
Wayne is still scheduled to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards this Sunday in Los Angeles. In an act of self promotion, he plans to drop his latest disc Tha Carter IV, immediately following the show at midnight both digitally via iTunes, other online sites and at brick-and-mortar shops. This guy isn't going to let a few scrapes and stitches slow him down. As they say in the entertainment biz -- the show must go on!
