Listen up Little Monsters -- Lady Gaga needs your help! The singing superstar is looking to her millions of Twitter followers for help in advocating laws against bullying. That's right, our Mama Monster is going political and working to make bullying illegal. What inspired this ambitious action? It all started with the death of Jamey Rodemeyer, the Buffalo teenager who committed suicide last weekend after being harassed about his sexuality. Gaga has since tweeted about the tragedy, announcing, "I am meeting with our President. I will not stop fighting. This must end. Our generation has the power to end it. Trend it #MakeALawForJamey." And Just before that, the singer also wrote, "Bullying must become illegal. It is a hate crime."
Gaga, who has always advocated for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered communities, is deeply saddened by this tragic event and how nothing is being done to prevent more children from committing suicide in the future. The singer is known for promoting the concept of accepting others and loving yourself for who you are, and Rodemeyer's death just speaks volumes about the importance of her message. But Lady Gaga has an even deeper reason for talking to the President about bullying, because just before Rodemeyer took his life, he posted some of her lyrics on his own wall, and so she's taking a personal interest in the matter and will do all she can to end teenage bullying and hate crimes. This is one of the many reasons why we love her.
