Tyra Banks surprised everyone when she announced she was going back to school. She continued to shock us when she further stated that she would be attending Harvard Business School. Now, she has kindly reminded us why we were so surprised by the fact that she was accepted into one of the best colleges in the world. While at her Modelland book signing in New York City, she spouted off a few observations she'd made since entering the academic world and profoundly stated, "I think they make it hard on purpose. Once you get done reading one assignment, you get another." I believe that tends to be a consistent theme at most colleges nowadays, but I graduated a few years ago so perhaps things have changed. But how dare the educational system demand her to constantly work on improving her academic skills by routinely turning in assignments. Looks like Harvard isn't the catwalk --I mean, cakewalk -- Tyra thought it was going to be.
The former model also mentioned that she had once planned to attend L.A.'s Loyola Marymount University, but was discovered as a model before she could carry that plan out. She recalls that time in her life and said, "The lightbulb went off to write when I was 16 years old. And I got accepted to many colleges, and I got sidetracked when I got discovered to be a model. A nice distraction. Then I came back to producing with America's Next Top Model and now I'm coming back to the writing side." We're so lucky to be alive to witness this dream finally coming to fruition and lucky that Harvard is the only place where such a talent can be molded.
