And the celebrity weddings continue. Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed have finally made it official and married after being together for 28 years. The KISS bassist tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend Saturday evening outside at the Beverly Hills Hotel. There were 400 guests in attendance for the big event, including Hugh Hefner, Bill Maher, and his fellow KISS members. The happy couple even wrote their own vows, which we'll get to hear when the wedding is shown on the new season of Gene Simmons Family Jewels on October 18. Simmons and Tweed have two children together: Nick, 22, and Sophie, 19, who served as Maid of Honor at her parents' wedding and sang Etta James' At Last song for their first dance.
There were no crazy antics done by Simmons or his bandmates -- it was class all the way, from Tweed's Priscilla of Boston gown to the bouquet of ivory garden roses. Gene seems ready to take on a new, more mature aspect of his life along with the "husband" title and before saying I do, he told Entertainment Tonight, "It is time for me to grow up. I'm 62. I've been doing a lot of wacky stuff for an awfully long time…and there's nobody I've ever said 'I love you' to. I even find it difficult to say 'I love you' to my mother. But I love Shannon with all my heart and all my soul, and always will." Congrats to the happy couple -- this was long overdue.
