Ever since Kat Von D's show L.A. Ink was canceled, I figured she would be looking for work, but I doubt anyone predicted her next job would be of the musical persuasion... and so it's kind of weird that reports confirm Ms. Von D is currently recording her first music album. When asked about her new career aspiration, she stated, "I've been passionate about music all my life. "I've been playing classical piano since I was six. So I understand the form, but it will be fun to be able to translate a message." As for her sound, Kat says it will be "more on the dark, more tragically romantic" side. Of course, her past relationship with Jesse James should provide plenty of material for her to work with, but the real question is -- can she sing? I have my doubts.
But the tattoo artist seems to think she will have no problem transitioning into the music industry (maybe because some musicians have tattoos?). She commented, "I think it's much like tattooing or the TV show or makeup, my clothing line, fashion. All those things, they're just different outlets to be able to be creative. So music, I think it's going to be one of those things." Tattoos, clothes, music -- just because you're good at one, doesn't mean you'll be good with the other, so I think her logic is flawed (or non-existent). We'll just have to wait and see if the auto-tune and voice enhancer machines can work their magic and make her the next big music artist. Brace yourselves.
