When women are not falling in his shower and dislocating their elbows, Sean Penn is very vocal about politics. All throughout President Bush's two terms, Penn was extremely critical of his policies and he even went as far as to pay $56,000 in 2002 so he could write an open letter to Bush in the Washington Post that attacked his administration for its "simplistic and inflammatory view of good and evil" and specifically called Bush, Cheney and Condoleeza Rice "villainously and criminally obscene people."
But now that Bush is out of office Penn has turned his attention towards the Tea Party and on Friday's episode of Piers Morgan Tonight, accused party members of racism and of being a "distraction" from the upcoming 2012 election. He said, "Yet there's another problem. You have what I call the ‘Get the N-word out of the White House party,’ the Tea Party. This kind of sensibility, which is much more of a distraction." Penn clarified he believes the Tea Party is only around because they hate that America's President is African American, and maintained the members of the party don't truly know anything about the issues that make up American politics today.
