According to Le Figaro, French First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy gave birth to a girl on Wednesday in Paris. This is her first child with French President Nicolas Sarkozy, whom she married in February 2008. The baby's name is still unknown, but don't expect to get a glimpse of the little bundle of joy anytime soon. Prior to giving birth, the singer/actress said she will not be releasing photos of the baby, while insisting that the French would not be interested in them anyway. Clearly she's not appealing to the American demographic because we crave details like these (even if all babies, famous or not, tend to look alike).
This won't be the couple's first parenting experience. Bruni has a son from a previous relationship and Sarkozy has three children from his two previous marriages to Marie-Dominique Culioli and Cecilia Ciganer-Albeniz. But even though the pair are overjoyed by the newest addition to the French First Family, Bruni will be happy to return to he pre-pregnancy routine. During an interview with French magazine Le Parisien about her pregnancy, the former model admitted, "Quite frankly, I can't stand it anymore. I spend most of my time either sitting down or lying down. I can't smoke or drink anymore. I'm in a hurry to get it over with." Well, at least she didn't smoke while carrying the baby. Congratulations to the happy parents!
