George Clooney isn't just easy on the eyes. He's also a great way to increase your pay grade -- just ask Stacy Keibler. Since she's the current "It" girl for America's favorite bachelor, the reality star decided to take advantage of all this extra attention by raising her personal appearance fee from $10,000 to $25,000. One source theorized that her appearance fees “are higher because the [event organizers] hope George might show up." Another source confided that the female wrestler originally agreed to host an anniversary party for $10,000, but is now demanding $25,000 instead -- that's a 150 percent markup! I think this is what people mean when they say fame can bring out the worst in people.
Now I have mixed feelings about this whole ordeal. Part of me can't help but understand that she's just trying to take advantage of what she has, while she has it. She's obviously not stupid and realizes there's a good chance her relationship with Clooney won't last forever, so she's trying to ride on the coattails of fame for as long as possible and earn a little extra money while she's at it. We're talking about your basic supply and demand technique: she's now more desirable to the press, so her rate has gone up -- it makes sense. But then there's the other part of me that can't help but roll my eyes about the whole situation since she's basically just famous by association now. She hasn't earned the right for extra money unless you call gallivanting with Clooney hard work (oh how excruciating). So she really doesn't deserve such a substantial pay raise. Plus, when you factor in how crappy the economy still is and how many people still don't have jobs, then it's just downright greedy. Isn't having George Clooney on your arm gift enough?
