Last night was the 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards, which took place at Belfast Odyssey Arena in Northern Ireland. The ceremony honored some of Hollywood's best and most popular artists of our time, including Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber. Gaga herself won a total of four awards, including Best Female and Biggest Fans (a new category that celebrates artists with the most committed fan base). Her popular hit single Born This Way also won Best Video and Best Song. Upon receiving the best song award, Gaga told the audience, "I knew that this song was very special when I first wrote it. This is the single most important song that I've ever written, the single most important album, and until now the single most important moment."
Bieber was also feeling the love that night as he snagged two awards, which included Best Male and Best Pop. While accepting the Best Male award, the teen heartthrob humbly thanked his fans, family, and MTV for the honor after admitting he voted for fellow nominee Kanye West. Additionally that night, the singer made the crowd go wild by performing a two-song medley of his latest Christmas hit, Under The Mistletoe and Never Say Never. It seems that despite all the paternity rumors circulating about the artist, Bieber Fever is still going strong.
Other big winners of the night included Bruno Mars, who took home Best New Artist, Katy Perry, who won the award for Best Live Performance, and Eminem, who accepted the title of Best Hip Hop Artist. The evening also featured a moving film tribute to Amy Winehouse, introduced by Jessie J, who said, "I never got to thank Amy for breaking boundaries as I truly believe without her I wouldn't be standing here today. She set a new standard for British female artists."
