Shortly before announcing her plans to divorce Kris Humphries, Kim Kardashian opened up about her then happy marriage in an interview with Marie Claire magazine. Her pre-separation self seemed completely unaware that any marital problems existed and appeared to still be glowing in post-wedding bliss. In fact, she defended their whirlwind romance of only 10 months and explained their decision to tie the knot, saying, "We felt like, 'Why wait?' It's fun to have a partner who understands your life and lets you be you."
Kim also discussed her former marriage to music producer Damon Thomas, admitting that being a teen bride wasn't the smartest decision she's ever made, but really helped teach her a lot about herself. "I was 19, and I didn't know myself," she says. "As unhappy as I was, and as happy as I am now not to be in that relationship, I learned so much from it: who I wanted to be, who I never wanted to be — you take all those issues and move on." She added, "I learned how to cook and do a lot of marital things. It definitely taught me what being a wife is all about. I think it means taking care of each other's needs and being there for someone unconditionally." I guess she has a different definition for the word "unconditionally" than the rest of us.
Ironically, the reality star didn't predict any spousal troubles in the near future and claimed to be very happy, saying, "I feel like where we're at right now is the best time in my life. Additionally, Kim acknowledged her complete trust in Humphries' reasons for marrying her, stating, "I'm not worried about him at all. We have a lot of trust, and I don't think either of us would do anything to break that. It makes life so easy. He's such a good guy; he is so down-to-earth, and it's such a reality check." I have a feeling Humphries' stance on that may have changed since then.
