Marriages usually end in one of two ways -- the couple remains friends or they hate each other. It can be a difficult situation for anybody, but since celebrity marriages are in the public eye, the situations can become a little more complicated. The press is always going to bring up past relationships, just to see if the celebrities have anything positive or negative to say about their exes. And well, this week it was Guy Ritchie's turn to fess up on some details about his eight year marriage to pop icon, Madonna. And it was pretty amusing what he had to say.
In an interview with Details magazine, Ritchie described his marriage to the singing superstar, saying it felt like he'd "stepped into a soap opera," adding, "I lived in it for quite a long period of my life." Now, being a former viewer of soap operas, I can confidently say this only means one thing: his life was full of drama, and lots of it. But despite all the negatives that came with the relationship, Ritchie doesn't wish he could go back and do things differently. He said, "I enjoyed my first marriage. It's definitely not something I regret. The experience was ultimately very positive. I love the kids that came out of it, and I could see no other route to take."
The couple got married in 2000 and eventually had two children together, Rocco and adopted son David, but ultimately split in 2008. And although the reason for the separation was said to be because the two ended up resenting each other's career commitments, I'm more prone to believe Ritchie just accidentally sent her a basket full of hydrangeas -- since we all know how much she loves them.
