Nicholas Sparks fans can rejoice as another one of his romantic novels, The Lucky One, develops into a major motion picture. Apple just released the trailer for the upcoming film and from what I can tell...the movie doesn't waiver that far from the book.
The film follows U.S. Marine Sergeant Logan Thibault (Zac Efron) who -- after serving in Iraq -- travels to North Carolina in search of the unknown woman [Taylor Schilling], whose photograph he believes kept him alive during the war. Little did he realize, his little adventure would end up changing his life forever. After finding her and learning her name is Beth, Logan discovers she could mean so much more to him than just a good luck charm. Naturally, a romance ensues, however, things start to get a little rocky when Beth learns about the photograph and the real reason that brought him to her.
Now being a huge Sparks fan myself, I would probably be able to depict various differences between the film and the book, but so far the trailer seems to have the important plot points pretty well covered. However, you don't really grasp how stalker-ish Logan's antics are until you've see them on screen. But Efron is the perfect pick to play the ruggedly handsome Logan -- and the fact we also get to admire his impressive arm muscles doesn't hurt either. Not to mention the romantic dialogue is downright swoon worthy: "You should be kissed every day, every hour, every minute." That is a lot of kissing, you guys, and I'm totally alright with it!
The film is set to be released on April 20, 2012. Check out the poster below:
