'Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked' Explore a Musical Island in Clip Compilation

Dec 14, 2011 | 8:12am EST

Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, the third film in the series celebrating the classic cartoon characters Alvin, Simon and Theodore, comes to theaters this Friday. To prepare you, we’ve assembled a collection of clips from the movie, which strands the chipmunks and their female counterparts the Chipettes on an uncharted island, and sets their hapless adopted father Dave (Jason Lee) off on a quest to find them.

The movie stars Justin Long as Alvin, Matthew Gray Gubler as Simon and Jesse McCartney as Theodore, and Christina Applegate, Anna Faris and Amy Poehler as the Chipettes. Enjoy the clip compilation below, and catch Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked in theaters this Friday, Dec. 16

Dave gets frustrated while trying to board a cruise ship with the rowdy, musically-compelled Chipmunks. Of course, Alvin knows how to double-talk.

While Dave prepares for a night at the captain’s table, he worries that his kids will cause trouble if left on their own. He turns to the responsible Simon for some advice…but things might not be as simple as Simon seems to suppose.

On the island, Alvin and company meet an inhabitant named Zoe (Jenny Slate) who doesn’t seem be part of their apparently vast fan club. The group performs a little Lady Gaga to jog her memory, but it looks like the Chipmunks’ fame does not extend to remote islands.

The Chipmunks’ new friend Zoe takes them back to her island residence. But it’s not a simple walk in the park…there is zip-lining involved.

When you’re stranded on an island, teamwork is an invaluable component to survival. But Alvin and the Chipmunks would rather fight over a single piece of food. At least they set it to some cheerful music!

Even stringent airport security cannot stop Alvin from misbehaving. Once on the plane, Alvin takes it upon himself to make a few quick announcements to the passengers. And The Office fans should look out for a cameo from a familiar face.
