In Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, the titular animated trio and their female counterparts, the Chipettes, find themselves marooned on a tropical island, where a lack of food and an abundance of dangerous predators force them into a desperate battle for survival. Civil society is but a distant memory — in this savage, unforgiving landscape, there is only one rule: Kill, or be killed.
I kid, of course. Chipwrecked is a breezy and whimsical family film with lots of singing and dancing and absolutely no killing, unless you count the Chipmunks’ positively murderous rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance.” Returning for his third turn as David Seville, the Chipmunks' forever flustered manager/guardian, star Jason Lee spoke with us about the latest chapter in the blockbuster saga, which opens everywhere this Friday, December 16:
