Paramount is in discussion with the music artist to develop this new 3D documentary. Reportedly, the footage has already been shot by director Nanette Burstein, who adapted Robert Evans' autobiography The Kid Stays in the Picture into a documentary film, and directed the romantic comedy Going the Distance. So at this point, it's just a matter of the production process.
The story of the film will cover Perry's upbringing and rise to fame, chronicling her progression from a young choir singer to an international music icon, with hits like "Teenage Dream" and "Firework."
Justin Bieber: Never Say Never was an extraordinarily popular and surprisingly well-received film, and it's likely that the studios are hoping to replicate this success with a film about Perry. Surely, Katy Perry is a celebrated enough performer to garner a large following, but will her film have as great an influence as Bieber's?
