Bruce Willis' iconic Die Hard hero John McClane is an average New York City cop. As such, his day to day responsibilities include thwarting international terrorists, high speed car and helicopter chases, and, of course, being a good father. And we'll get to see a lot more of that in the upcoming A Good Day to Die Hard, for McClane's fully grown son has been cast: Australian actor Jai Courtney.
In Die Hard, we met his two young children: Lucy and Jack, aged six and four, respectively. We reunited with Lucy in Live Free or Die Hard—Mary Elizabeth Winstead played a twenty-five year-old incarnation of the character.
But since Die Hard we have not seen much of little Jack. It seems almost unnatural that an able-bodied young man wouldn't accompany his daredevil father through the death-defying quests he braves by the week. But this will be rectified in the fifth film in the series. Courtney is taking the role of the contentious, gun-wielding John "Jack" McClane, Jr.
In A Good Day to Die Hard, Jack McClane will be a twenty-seven year-old badass who takes after his father quite a bit. However, the similarly hot-tempered men will find themselves at odds with one another on their joint mission to preserve international peace while in Moscow. To date, Courtney's biggest claim to fame is his role on the Starz series Spartacus: Vengeance.
