Jessica ChastainMay 7, 2012 Update: According to her Facebook, Chastain has passed on the project.

In light of all the Avengers excitement, it seems like everyone in Hollywood is willing to forget about the mediocrity that was Iron Man 2, as the third feature in the Tony Stark series is attracting a good amount of new talent. The latest to join Iron Man 3 might be Jessica Chastain, who, after The Tree of Life, Take Shelter, and the developing double-feature The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, has totally earned a superhero flick.

Chastain is in good company as far as potential Iron Man 3 additions go: it has been reported that Ben Kinglsey was considering an undisclosed villainous role in the film, and that Guy Pearce was in talks for a role as scientist Aldrich Killian. Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson and Don Cheadle will all be reprising their roles in the third movie, with Paltrow slated to enjoy more screen time and a heftier part as her character Pepper Potts.

A lot of speculation has surrounded Kingsley's attachment, with fans taking guesses at which character he might play. What are some possibilities for Chastain's supporting role?
