John Travolta is actively involved in casting his co-stars in the movie adaptation of TV soap Dallas.

Director Gurinder Chadha says the Pulp Fiction star, who is playing oil tycoon J.R. Ewing in the film, is helping her select the final members of the cast.

She explains, "I'm going to the United States next week, to meet up with John, as we haven't finished casting."

"We need to find actors to play Lucy (Ewing) and Pammy (Ewing)."

Jennifer Lopez has already signed on to play J.R.'s long-suffering wife Sue Ellen and Shirley MacLaine will step in to the role of Ewing clan matriarch Miss Ellie.

Contrary to reports that the film would be shot in Florida, not Texas, the Bend It Like Beckham director insists final locations haven't been decided.

She adds, "We still haven't found a ranch location yet. We're looking all over the South for somewhere suitable."

The film will begin production in October.
