Whether or not you enjoyed Star Trek: Nemesis shouldn't change the fact that a behind-the-scenes look is duly interesting — especially when it involves two of the film's biggest stars amid a run-through of one of the movie's most important scenes. Patrick Stewart might have already been a time honored vessel for the character of Jean-Luc Piccard, but his partner in the below screen test was a newbie at the time: Tom Hardy, playing Shinzon, Piccard's militant clone.
The below video from The Huffington Post is a match-up of a screen test of Stewart's and Hardy's scene together (wherein they examine their shared personal history and innate dreams of exploring other worlds) and the performance that actually made it to film. The clip is a pretty interesting watch, especially considering how far Hardy has come in notoriety ever since.
In fact, you could even say that Shinzon is what launched Hardy to where he is today. Following this dark, deranged character, Hardy took on more of the like: notably, the lead role in Bronson, the character of Heathcliff in a Wuthering Heights adaptation, and, of course, Bane in The Dark Knight Rises.
Try and spot all of the differences between the scenes.
