Even though you know your heart is breaking, laugh, clown, laugh! That's how the song goes, but it ain't always so easy. There's only so many times that watching a YouTube video of a monkey riding a pig will illicit genuine laughter. So you're probably going to need a new source of amusement this fall. How about a movie? Of course, comedy is a diverse genre. Not every comedy is for every comedy-lover. So here's a breakdown of all the laffers to come this season, and an idea of which ones might be best for you.

10 Years

Release Date: Sept. 14

Rating: PG-13

You should see it if…: You love Channing Tatum (which, by now, we all do), and are currently enrapt in nostalgia for your own high school experience. You're in your mid to late 20s, maybe even early 30s, and still can't stop thinking about how things could have been in your teen years... and how, just maybe, a good enough movie might convince your old flame to give you that call you've been waiting for. And you'll know she'll see this one — it's got Channing Tatum!

Butter

Release Date: Oct. 5

Rating: R

You should see it if…: You’re up for another satirical takedown of Sarah Palin, don't mind that aforesaid takedown won't involve Tina Fey in any way, and really want to see how well Hugh Jackman pulls off a cowboy hat. Spoilers: he makes it work.

The Oranges

Release Date: Oct. 5

Rating: R

You should see it if…: You can’t get enough of the whole Montagues versus Capulets thing, and you're so disappointed over the dismissal of Hugh Laurie from RoboCop that you'll see anything that he's in just as a compensation.

Seven PsychopathsPitch Perfect

Release Date: Oct. 5

Rating: PG-13

You should see it if…: You were in an a capella group in college, wanted to be in an a capella group in college but couldn't sing well enough (or were afraid of what your fraternity brothers would say), or are just a good ol' fashioned Gleek.

Here Comes the Boom

Release Date: Oct. 12

Rating: N/A

You should see it if…: You have been actively awaiting the arrival of the boom for years now. You find it funny when shlubby guys get the crap kicked out of them, but have enough of a soft spot somewhere inside of you for underdog stories.

Seven Psychopaths

Release Date: Oct. 12

Rating: R

You should see it if…: You prefer the old days of Christopher Walken, when he was more than a cameo whose offbeat inflection was the chief source for comedy. Additionally, you've got a taste in comedy in line with movies like Pulp Fiction, Snatch, and Get Shorty... and you don't mind if a few dogs are thrown into the mix (possibly in harms way... that's a dealbreaker for some of us).

The Big Wedding

Release Date: Oct. 26

Rating: N/A

You should see it if…: You love weddings, but don't presently have any friends who are getting married (which is probably why you still love weddings). You also love pointing at theater screens and shouting, "Hey, there's that guy from...!"  because just about every actor you've ever seen is in this movie.

Fun Size

Release Date: Oct. 26

Rating: N/A

You should see it if…: You thought The Sitter had a decent premise, but would have been better carried out in the hands of Jonah Hill's old costar Emma Stone... or an Emma Stone type (see: Jane Levy, who pulls off the old-for-her-age shtick with pizzazz). And you're a sucker for kids running around in funny costumes.
