Over the summer, we saw Andy Samberg grow fed up with his onscreen dad Adam Sandler in the duo's first comic pairing, That's My Boy. Apparently, Samberg just can't seem to get away from troublesome fathers played by the Happy Madison leader. Hotel Transylvania reteams the Saturday Night Live veterans, with Samberg playing a wayward backpacking human who happens upon a private monsters-only resort run by Count Dracula himself (Sandler), who doubles as an overprotective father to young Mavis (Selena Gomez). But this time around, Samberg isn't letting Sandler get to him.
In a new featurette exclusive to Hollywood.com, Samberg explainins the depths of his Hotel Transylvania character. All in all, he's a pretty easygoing guy. Samberg says he based the character, an adventurous spirit named Jonathan, on the happy-go-lucky Bay Area populace around whom he grew up... eventually admitting that he himself falls into that category (or at least he used to). All in all, it looks like this time around, Sandler is going to be the one pulling his hair out over Samberg's antics — my, how the tables have turned.
Check out the featurette below, and catch Hotel Transylvania in theaters on September 28.
