It's understandable that emotions ran high, given that such a hilarious dynamic both onscreen and off is rare thing to find in this business. Plus, it meant viewers would have to say goodbye to two of the strongest SNL
performers ever working together. Sadness all around.
But Wiig, Hader, and all their devoted fans will have a reason to smile today: the two will get to pair up yet again. Both Wiig and Hader's reps have confirmed to Hollywood.com that the funny duo will star together in the upcoming indie comedy The Skeleton Twins.
The movie — which according to Variety
finds Wiig and Hader as "estranged twins who coincidentally cheat death on the same day, prompting them to reunite and confront how their lives went so wrong" — will be produced by the Duplass Brothers Productions (which recently released the indie comedy gem Safety Not Guaranteed
), directed and co-written (along with Mark Heyman
) by Craig Johnson
, and costarring Luke Wilson
. The last time Wiig and Hader were on the big screen together was when they played a goofy married couple who ran an amusement park in the criminally underrated Adventureland.
The Skeleton Twins
, which has no release date yet,
adds another project to the in-demand Wiig and Hader's already busy lineups. Hader, who is currently working on Season 38 of SNL
, will next be seen in The To-Do List
, and lend his voice to the Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs
sequel. Wiig, also doing voice work for Despicable Me 2
, just wrapped filming The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
with Ben Stiller
Everybody dance now!
