A new Bridget Jones book is currently under way, according to author Helen Fielding's interview with BBC radio show, Woman's Hour.
The third novel she says will be "set in present-day London, with an entirely new scenario for Bridget." Additionally it will be a somewhat more modern version than her previous two — Bridget Jones's Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. Yes, her main character "is still on a diet," but each diary entry will be obsessed more with the number of Twitter followers she has — as opposed to how many calories and cigarettes she consumed that day.
Another important change is the news that the yet-untitled book will have a different storyline than the upcoming third film, Bridget Jones's Baby. In the movie version, Jones (who is played by Renee Zellweger) will continue her love triangle with Hugh Grant and Colin Firth's characters, ultimately getting pregnant — no doubt in some complicated fashion — by one of the two men.
All three stars are said to have signed on to the film, but with no status update on the project for quite some time, it seems as if Jones's relationships aren't the only complicated thing.
